How to measure & what to expect

  • Width & Length: Measure the inside of your bed frame edge to edge. Round to the nearest inch.
  • Corners: If a corner is cut, measure how far the cut runs along each edge (X across, Y down) and pick Radius (rounded), Angle (diagonal), or Notch (square cut-in).
  • Unusual shapes: For boats, RV slide-outs, or antique beds, trace the shape on cardboard and attach it after submitting your quote.

Common berth sizes

Every boat is different. These are typical starting points. Measure your own berth, or send us a traced template.

Island short queen 60 x 75 Same idea on a shorter berth.
Aft cabin berth 54 x 76 Often needs one corner cut to follow the hull.
Mid-cabin double 48 x 74 Usually close to rectangular.
Quarter berth 32 x 80 Narrow single berth.
V-berth Varies Wide at the head, narrow at the foot. Use angled corners or send a traced template.

How to measure

  1. Measure three ways on a V-berth

    Measure the head width, the foot width and the length down the centerline. Don't assume it's a perfect triangle.

  2. Trace the hull curve

    If the sides follow a curved hull, lay cardboard flat on the berth and trace around the edge with a marker.

  3. Include the filler cushion

    If your V-berth has a drop-in filler cushion, measure with it in place so you get one mattress that covers the whole berth.
