How to measure & what to expect

  • Width & Length: Measure the inside of your bed frame edge to edge. Round to the nearest inch.
  • Corners: If a corner is cut, measure how far the cut runs along each edge (X across, Y down) and pick Radius (rounded), Angle (diagonal), or Notch (square cut-in).
  • Unusual shapes: For boats, RV slide-outs, or antique beds, trace the shape on cardboard and attach it after submitting your quote.

Common antique and odd bed sizes

Older beds weren't built to today's standard sizes. Use these as a guide, then measure inside your frame.

How to measure

  1. Measure inside the rails

    Measure the open space inside the side rails and between the headboard and footboard, not the outside of the frame.

  2. Check more than one spot

    Older frames can be slightly out of square. Measure width at the head and the foot, and use the smaller number.

  3. Pick a height that suits the frame

    Measure from the slats or support to the top of the side rail. Lower heights keep the headboard and footboard on show.

What size is a three-quarter (3/4) mattress?
A three-quarter mattress is usually 48 inches wide by 75 inches long, between a twin and a full. Older frames vary, so measure yours before you order.
My frame is an unusual length. Can you match it?
Yes. Enter any width and length from 28 to 84 inches and we cut it to that size.
What's the return policy on a custom size?
Custom sizes are final sale because they're built for your frame. If it arrives not matching the measurements you submitted, or defective, we replace it or refund it.
